Founded in 1939, the Geneva International Music Competition brings together every year dozens of young talents from all over the world. It is considered an essential quality stamp in establishing an international career. Exceptionally, this year’s International Geneva Music Competition 2012 was consecrated to one single discipline: the piano, which is one of its most popular and historically most important disciplines. Since the victory in 1939 of Arturo Benedetti-Michelangeli, many of today’s greatest artists are former laureates of the Geneva competition; from Maria Tipo to Marta Argerich, from Friedrich Gulda to Nelson Goerner, the long list of awe-inspiring names continues to inspire young participants.
