Exceptionally, this year’s International Geneva Music Competition 2012 was consecrated to one single discipline: the piano, which is one of its most popular and historically most important disciplines. Since the victory in 1939 of Arturo Benedetti-Michelangeli, many of today’s greatest artists are former laureates of the Geneva competition; from Maria Tipo to Marta Argerich, from Friedrich Gulda to Nelson Goerner, the long list of awe-inspiring names continues to inspire young participants.
