طبقة صوت (سوبرانو)
مناسبة القصيدة:
يطلب هيرود من سالومي أن ترقص له لأنه متكدر المزاج، تتمنع سالومي عدة مرات ، حتي يغريها بأنه سيحقق لها أي أمنية تطلبها لقاء رقصها، مهما كانت تلك الأمنية ، حتى لو كانت نصف مملكته.
ترقص سالومي الرقصة الشهيرة (السبع غلال) ، وهي تنفض عنها حجاباً بعد آخر ، وتصيب الدهشة الحضور
تطلب سالومي من هيرود (حاكم الربع ) أن يحقق لها طلبها كما وعد ، شريطة أن يكون على طبق من فضه.
ولم يفهم مغزى هذا إلا عندما أخبرته أن طلبها هو ( رأس النبي يحي) .
يحاول هيرود بشتى المغريات أن يثنيها عن طلبها ، لكن سالومي تصر على أن تكون هديتها هي ( رأس النبي يوحنا) .
بائت محاولات حاكم الربع بالفشل، فيأمر برأس (النبي يوحنا)
